Bott-Geyl Pinot Gris Les Elements 2018

The producer says-

Domaine Bott-Geyl produce fine organic and biodynamic wines in Alsace, France. Low yielding vines and minimal intervention in the winery – the focus is on making wines that show the unique terroir at their disposal.‘

Virile, intense and suave with notes of smoke, tobacco, honey and candied fruit with finesse.’

Joe’s Judgements –

Rich and creamy in texture while still showing fantastic balanced acidity. The nose seems restrained at first but opens up beautifully with a little aeration. Ripe red apples, honeydew melon and beeswax are lovely and aromatic. As expected from an Alsace wine, great intensity of fruit on the palate, with some pear and mandarin notes, plus a subtle earthy minerality.

Just a heads up, Pinot Gris is the same grape as Pinot grigio. When its called Pinot Gris it’s made in a rich, aromatic style. Pinot Grigio

Ross recommends-

I’m not sure about describing a wine as virile, but i will say its nice to get a wine that displays so much stone fruit flavour out of this grape. Peachy, some wood smoke, and with definite aging potential, this is a great wine from a great family.
