Bardos Clea Verdejo Rueda 2021

Bardos Verdejo is a white wine from D.O. Rueda, produced by Bodegas Bardos from Grupo Vintae. Bardos Verdejo is a wine made from 100% Verdejo , from vineyards that are 20-25 years old, located in Rueda, at more than 700 metres of altitude on stony soils. The climate has a continental influence.

Varieties: Verdejo.

Vineyard: Selection of 20 to 25 years old vineyards, located in Rueda and La Seca, on the rocky soil at 700 to 800 metres above sea level. Continental climate and large temperature difference between day and night favour to produce great balance wines.

Harvest: Manually harvested during the night.

Winemaking: Cryomaceration to encourage colour and primary aromas extraction. Softly pressed with pneumatic press. Fermentation with natural grape yeasts at low temperature and aging on the fine lees for 4 months.

Straw yellow with green edges. Intense aroma of white fruits, citrics and cut grass with a light touch of balsamic and mineral notes. Great character, density and structure, with a good acidity level and great persistence.

This was my personal highlight white wine from our Spanish wine focus in October, there’s some fun texture and tropicality, it’s bracingly dry and leaves a pear note on the finish. Really happy with how well this one faired in our wine dispense machine too, great feedback during our on-barrel tastings.
